A 50 gallon or larger aquarium with a tight-fitting lid and a 2-3 inch sandy bottom is an ideal habitat for peaceful wrasses, including its own species. This provides a safe area for the wrasses to hide if they become frightened. Additionally, it is important to research the wrasses’ behavior and care requirements to ensure that it is given the right environment to thrive. Furthermore, providing the proper environment will also help to protect the other species in the aquarium.
The Royal Dottyback is a hardy and useful fish for many aquariums. It is an ideal fish for reef tanks, as it will not bother corals or clams and will help keep them safe from parasitic snails. This fish is also an excellent eater, consuming a variety of foods. In addition to fireworms and pyramidellid snails, the Royal Dottyback will eat feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, and flatworms. It can even feed on parasites off of tank mates. To ensure it is adequately fed and healthy, it is best to provide vitamin enriched frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods alongside high quality marine flake and pellet food. With the right diet and care, the Royal Dottyback will be an excellent addition to any saltwater aquarium.
