The Blue and Gold Blenny is an ideal addition to a reef aquarium, as it is considered reef safe and is unlikely to cause any harm to other inhabitants of the tank. However, it should be noted that they may nip at polyps or bases of Acropora sp. and other SPS corals. Therefore, it is recommended that if the aquarium is dominated by SPS corals, it should be stocked with mature colonies to reduce the risk of damage to Acropora sp. and Montipora sp. corals. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the aquarium is well-maintained with the appropriate water parameters and nutrition to ensure the health and vitality of the Blue and Gold Blenny. Finally, regular observation of the fish’s behavior is also recommended.
The Black and Yellow Blenny is an excellent addition to any saltwater tank, provided it has the correct environment. This species of fish requires a minimum of a 30-gallon tank and plenty of live rock for perching and hiding. They are typically peaceful, yet may become territorial towards other Blennies of the same genus. As they spend most of their time in crevices and rocks, it is important to provide plenty of hiding spots to ensure their wellbeing. Additionally, adding multiple Black and Yellow Blennies to the same tank may help reduce aggression levels. With the right environment and tankmates, these Blennies can be a wonderful addition to any tank.
The diet of the Blue and Gold Blenny should include a variety of meaty items, chopped fish and shrimp, and a quality flake or pellet food.
