Rasbora axelrodi is an ideal fish for a community aquarium as it is peaceful and of a similar size to many other species. This species requires a well-established and densely-planted aquarium with plenty of free swimming space. To ensure a healthy environment for the fish, regular water changes should be done and the tank should be filtered. In addition, the ideal water parameters for this species are a temperature between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius, a pH of 6.0 to 7.5, and a hardness of 4 to 8 dGH.
Fortunately, the Axelrod Rasbora is not difficult to breed in the aquarium. With diligent water quality maintenance, a well-planted aquarium, and the right ratio of males to females, successful breeding is possible.
This Rasbora is an omnivore that does well on a diet of prepared flake food, as well as freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex.
